101 Things to do with Figs!

The title of this blog post might be slightly misleading… we don’t HAVE 101 things to do with figs, we NEED 101 things! The figs in are garden are ripening by the day, and we’re desperately trying to pick them before they go squishy and fall to the floor. So, we open to suggestions please,Continue reading “101 Things to do with Figs!”

The thing I love about vegetable gardening…

I’ve spent a lot of time in the garden lately, which has been absolute heaven for me, and has also lead me to analyse what it is that I love so much about vegetable gardening… I’ve decided the answer is pretty straight forward; I love watching things grow and develop. This applies to all kindsContinue reading “The thing I love about vegetable gardening…”

Horse Power!

A few weeks ago I reported in another post that I was experimenting with ‘Fumier De Cheval’ in the veg garden – in other words, horse manure! I just thought I’d post an update on the results of the experiment, which seems to be going very well! I planted 4 pumpkin plants directly into bagsContinue reading “Horse Power!”

How has our garden grown?

We’ve been living in France for about 8 weeks now, and having just had a week back in England, it was quite exciting to come back and see how our little veg garden has grown! Here’s a few ‘before and after’ shots of the plants 🙂

What a load of horse s**t!

As soon as we arrived in France, I ‘adopted’ 3 very sickly looking tomato plants and quite a few chilli plants from the local garden centre. Since then I have added to our little veg plot quite a lot, with the following: French beans from seed (had to be done) A cucumber plant A courgetteContinue reading “What a load of horse s**t!”

Smooth!

As part of our new healthy eating regime, and due to the fact that I have more time to spare now we’re living in France, I’ve starting making smoothies and health drinks for us! Until now I had been sticking to basic combinations of citrus fruits with a few apples and strawberries thrown in, butContinue reading “Smooth!”

Bedding in!

Hi everyone! We’ve been here for a week now, but it feels like months! Just thought I’d give you a quick update to let you know how what we’ve been up to! In between unpacking, organising, working (we both got here and immediately logged on and continued our working week!) we’ve been able to getContinue reading “Bedding in!”

(not quite a) year in Provence!

Hi everyone! We’ve finally sorted the next stage of our journey into being able to own a smallholding and grow our own produce! To be honest, it’s slightly off at a tangent, but we’ve been offered an opportunity we can’t refuse… We have now sold our house (subject to contract, and the wind sailing inContinue reading “(not quite a) year in Provence!”
